THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE WATER...

Against the Current is a third party one-shot module for the Lancer RPG system, intended for 3 to 5 LL0 characters to complete in a single session. The team of pilots descends into the depths of an icy moon's ocean to check in on a mining facility that appears to have lost communication with their home colony. All reports say that, save for the workers, there should be no complex life under the surface, so it's probably some technical issue! The pilots are just the first to respond and their weapons aren't needed, right? I'm sure it's fine.

The centerpiece of this one-shot is a versatile NPC that is designed to be used in any underwater Lancer setting and under a variety of combat situations.  In the case of is module, it's designed as a "raid boss" style encounter that will have players interacting with it (and possibly each other) in unique and interesting ways!

INCLUDED IN THIS MODULE:

  • A stylized PDF that provides the history of the module's setting, and a mission containing two narrative beats plus one combat
  • GM details for handling narrative play, reserves, and managing the mission's combat, including instructions on how to handle each type of NPC
  • Characters, dialogue, negligent corporations, and narrative for players who want to dabble with the setting or GMs looking to expand on the scenario
  • Stats for a unique NPC with 15 optional systems to choose from and a template that are designed to be taken into other scenarios
  • Two pieces of exotic gear that are rewards for completing the mission and can be used by players in future adventures
  • Multiple variations of a full-color map to be used during one of the narrative beats and the combat and settings for importing it into Foundry V11
  • An optional high-difficulty version of the combat for parties who want an especially harsh challenge

CONTENT WARNING:

This module could bring up phobias such as fear of the dark and fear of the ocean or deep water. It may also mention harm being brought to civilian laborers, drowning, asphyxiation, electrocution, claustrophobia, being crushed, being eaten, and more.

Thanks!

The base map with the terrain, lighting effects, and fill areas were done in Dungeondraft. The outlines and annotations were done in Krita.

(That was a WIP version while I addressed some things IRL. A full version with assets is now available, but I left the WIP one in the pack for people who would prefer it.)
